Challenges
Developing a seamless and engaging AR experience without requiring users to download the full app posed several challenges. One of the main issues that we encountered was when we went ahead with developing an application using App Clip or Instant App for Apple/Google.An App Clip/Instant App is a lightweight, streamlined version of an app that allows users to access a specific functionality or feature of the app without needing to download and install the full version. Introduced by Apple/Google, App Clip/Instant Apps are designed to be fast and easy to use, loading within seconds to provide a seamless experience. One of the major challenges was managing strict size constraints and ensuring a seamless, high-performance user experience within limited functionality.
To stay within the size limits and also ensure that the app stays functional and responsive has called for meticulous optimization where there is a specific focus on adding specific features and stripping down other unnecessary features.
The app leverages App Clips / Instant Apps for seamless access without bulky downloads and installations, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience. The platform includes user-friendly content creation tools for uploading, managing, and analyzing QR code content. We focused on prioritizing essential features to stay within size constraints and optimize performance through efficient coding practices.
Another challenge was when it came to compatibility and performance to make sure that the app functions perfectly on different devices with various sizes, resolutions, OS, etc. Additionally, it requires thorough testing across various devices while adhering to platform-specific guidelines and ensuring smooth integration with the full app.

We focused on prioritizing essential features to stay within size constraints and optimize performance through efficient coding practices.
In Android, using Filament to render 3d models added around 8MB to the initial download size. To optimize for Instant Apps, Filament was extracted into a separate module and downloaded only when required using Google Play's Play Feature Delivery. This kept the initial download size under 4MB.
